Maria and Dan started PawHaven in a converted barn on Riverbend Road. Twelve years later, the barn is a 2,400-square-foot facility, but the rule is the same: every dog who comes through the door is treated like a member of the family.
Our story.
Maria grew up on a cattle ranch in eastern Oregon. She trained her first boarding dog at fifteen and never really stopped. After a decade of corporate IT, she and her husband Dan cashed in his 401k, bought five acres on Riverbend Road, and opened PawHaven with four runs and a grooming tub in the garage.
The first year, they boarded 180 dogs. Last year, 2,400. They still live on the property. They still know most of the dogs by name.
We don't do volume playgroups. We don't use cage dryers. We don't surprise you with surcharges. We do the work we'd want done if our dog was staying somewhere.

Eleven of us full-time, three of us part-time. Most have been here five years or longer.

Frequently asked questions.
Do I need to bring food?
You can. We have house kibble (Purina Pro Plan chicken and rice) at no extra charge. If your pet is on a special diet, bring their food in pre-portioned bags or containers and label with name and date.
What if my pet needs medication?
Bring medications in their original packaging with dosing instructions. We don't charge extra for oral meds, insulin, or eye drops.
Can my dog share a suite with my other dog?
Absolutely, for dogs from the same household. We automatically apply a 15% discount to the second pet in the same run. If your dogs don't live together but you want them in the same suite, we'll set up a free meet-and-greet first.
What if my dog gets sick while boarding?
We isolate the dog, call you, and call our on-call vet. We've used the vet line twice in twelve years and both times the dog was fine within a day.
Do you board cats?
Yes, in our Cozy Cabins (which double as cat condos when not in use for small dogs). Cats stay in a separate wing away from the dogs, with their own quiet HVAC.
What's your cancellation policy?
Boarding: 25% deposit, fully refundable up to 48 hours before check-in. Day camp and grooming: full refund up to 24 hours before. Force majeure: always call us first, we work with you.
Do you do in-home pet sitting?
No, and we don't recommend it. The liability insurance is rough, and we think pets do better with the structure of a facility stay. Ask us for a referral if you need a sitter.
